Lauren Cornad Bans Body Shaming From Her Website

Lauren Conrad is one of those fashionistas that just inspire you. Her perfect hair, flawless look, unique style and outfits definitely have inspired more than one daily look. But now she will inspire much more than selfies of your Outfit Of The Day. She is now taking a stand against body shaming and promoting body positivity in her own website. Making us associate the statement ‘you go girl’ with her name from now on. Your earned it, girlfriend! As you may or may not know, the former star of MTV’s The Hills runs a lifestyle website where she writes about fitness, style, beauty, food and even arts and crafts. In her latest blog post, she announced a small, but significant change on her “get fit” section. She will stop using words like “skinny”, “thin” or “slim” when talking about exercise. This is her attempt to remove the focus from weight and losing a set amount of pounds, and bring to light what really matters: healthy living. On her blog, titled “Letter From Lauren”, Conrad shared that “when we’ve talked bout getting in shape in the past, words like skinny, slim and thin have often come up. Starting this month, we’ll be banning any body shaming terms from the site, and replacing them with words like fit, toned and healthy”, she vowed. “We try to do this for the most part anyway, but now we are making it official!”. Her website had always been about sharing a positive message and encouragement, and this announcement makes it even easier to love it. “The word skinny will now be reserved for skinny jeans”, continued the post. “My editorial team and I had a long talk about it, and we want to make sure that the focus is on being fit as opposed to a number on the scale”, she wrote. “Every body is created differently and healthy bodies come in all shapes and sizes”. Truer words have never been written. Hopefully, this is a trend that will spread to every corner of the web. The response to the announcement was overwhelmingly positive, with fans and readers thanking her for this move on her part. This post was not without controversy, though. Some commenters were pointing out that, despite her good intentions, Lauren may have given off the vibe of shaming skinny girls. However, the blog never said anything negative about thin bodies and Conrad explained that all she wants to do is promote the idea that every body is beautiful and deserves love. After all, exercising works best because you love your body and want to keep it healthy. The number on the...

Plus Size Model Fights Against Online Bullying

Here’s some shocking news for you: people are mean on the internet! I know, I wasn’t very shocked either! The truth is that we’ve allowed online bullying to become so normal that we barely even think consciously about it. We kind of accepted it as part of ‘internet culture,’ and every time we hear about it we sort of think “yeah, it sucks… oh well”. And then move on with our lives. But some people can’t. Some people get their lives ruined by bullies on the internet. And this isn’t acceptable. This is what plus size model Tess Holliday, (aka, Tess Munster) is fighting for. She became the first model over size 16 to be signed to a major agency, when she got a contract with Milk Model Management in London. She is one of the people currently changing the face of fashion and that means she is continuously facing a lot of backlash due to her size. Even after absolutely killing it on her first campaign with Torrid, she is still the target of body-shaming, bullying and straight up hate from certain online communities, especially on Reddit and Instagram. However, this has done little to stop Tess from continuing to defy the odds in the fashion industry. In fact, it seems that they only managed to reinforce her motivation. Because even though she is strong enough to laugh in the face of internet trolls and continue being successful in her awesome life, the model is not the only one affected by online bullying. So she set out to shut down hateful communities. She said in a tweet that “Just so you trolls are aware, I’m in contact with Instagram an Reddit and your fat hate pages won’t be around much longer”. That’s right, there are people on the Internet who get together exclusively to hate on fat people. Because that’s productive and not at all sad. “So instead of bullying others, you might actually have time to work on yourselves and try to be happy instead of projecting your problems on others”, Tess continued. The sad truth is that all this vitriol and vicious, hateful comments coming from online bullies is just a way to cover up insecurities and making themselves feel better by putting others down. But this doesn’t mean we should stand for it. Tess definitely isn’t. And if she sets her mind to something, we know she is going to get it. “If I can defy the odds in my industry and be the first model to be signed to an agency, you better believe I will shut you all down and change the laws against this...

6 Women’s Beauty Products Men Secretly Love

Day by day you start noticing that your beauty products have been being used more than usual. You look at your beauty routine and realize that your products should last you longer than two weeks. So why are they finished beforehand? Your boyfriend is using them too. The beauty products he is using are your body washes, moisturizers, shampoos, and chap sticks. You can do one of two things: curse them out or just buy more of the product so both of you can use them. Here are 6 women’s beauty products men secretly love and use behind your back. 1. Dove Winter Care Body Wash – the extra thickness of the lather is what makes both women and men love this product. It also adds extra moisture to your skin which is good for those dry, cold seasons. You will notice that this body wash will be the first one to go in the shower even if you have an Axe body wash for him. 2. Eyebrow Brush – We have all seen those wacked out eyebrows that men seem to neglect when they go out. Now they are using your eyebrow brushes to tame their brows. Why? It is the closest thing to a makeup tool that is not like using makeup. Get two eyebrow brushes, one for your delicate brows, and one for his bushy rough ones. 3. Venus Razors – The main reason why men love female razors over male razors is the sensitivity the female razors have. Plus they glide over the skin surface easier. The handle fits nicer in their hand and the razors are cheaper. 4. SimpleSkinCare 24HR Day/Night Cream – It is fragrance free which is why men love using it. It also makes any cracked up face look fresh and new within seconds. It is also great for dry hands too, hence why your construction worker boyfriend will be hogging up the cream for his dry worker hands. 5. Yes to Carrots Scalp Relief Shampoo and Conditioner – When it comes to shampoo for men, they are all generic. Just one try of Yes to Carrots Shampoo and you both will be sharing the shampoo forever. IT has tea tree oil and lemon that reduce irritation and salicylic acid that helps with flaking. Plus it will leave their hair so smooth that they will love your fingers running through it. 6. Burt’s Bees Lip Balm – Men love it because the packaging is yellow and has a man in a bee hat on the front. Yeah right. They love it because the scent is neutral and the balm keeps their...

8 Diet Foods That Really Make You Fat

It is the beginning of 2015 and your New Year’s resolution is to get rid of the spare tire around your waist. Did you know that some diet foods can actually make you gain fat? I know, right. I was appalled when I found out. How can that be? Well, after doing some research, I found out some interesting things about what food I was putting in my mouth. It may say diet/healthy on the packaging but my stomach does not lie. Neither does the two inches around my waist. Here are some ‘diet’ foods that you might be eating right now. Stop! They will make you fat! Cereals – Healthy my ass. Read the labels on those ‘special’ diet cereal boxes. They are full of sugar. All it will do is spike your blood sugar levels and without realizing it, you have eaten three bowls of healthy cereal. Whole Wheat Bread – There is nothing healthy about whole wheat bread. It has the same amount of refined sugar as any other bread. Plus the grains have been pulverized to make them digest easy which spike up your blood sugar. Wheat bread has also been linked to health problems. Eating whole wheat bread equals dead…allegedly. Granola Mix – These are so damn good by the handful. That is the problem with these granola mixes. They are full of other things like chocolate, sugar, and nuts. All you need is a serving size of 4 tablespoons. Heck that will not keep you full until lunch time, so that is why you eat the whole bag and get fat. Diet Sodas – All you are drinking is artificially sweetened versions of the real thing. How does it make you fat? It makes you crave the real thing so you eat other products with sugar and fat in them. You must be careful because diet drinks have been linked to heart problems. Avocado – Yes it is great for you heart, but it is loaded with fat. It is full of calories. Eat only one a day to keep from putting on weight. Now when the guacamole is made, do not hold me back. Protein Bars – What? That is exactly what I said until I read the ingredients. Some protein bars are full of sugar and other carb fat that counteract the protein. Make sure the protein bar is full of protein. Dried Fruit – Yes they are considered to be healthier than fresh fruit. So you eat a lot of them. Wrong! Dried fruit are zapped away from nutrients and antioxidants. Plus they are full of sugar. Eat fresh strawberries...

13 Tips On How To Know For Sure: Is My Dress Too Tight?

You are at your goal weight and want to show off your body this holiday season. Your first though might be to get a tight dress to show of my curves, or muscles. Your second thought might be to pick out the red one. Your third thought might be to put it back because it is so fudging much. Picking out a tight dress should not be difficult. You just have to know where you are going, and how much you want to show off. There is a difference in looking like a hot tamale and a hot sausage.   Here are some tips to keep you from wearing out the wrong tight dress. Know your body. Tight is not always right. Here is an option: wear a loose shirt dress with tight leggings.   Know your surroundings. If you are at a work party, do not wear on something so tight that will cause sexual harassment issues. Muffin tops are great to eat. They do not look good personified. Never wear on something so tight that you look like a busted can of biscuits. If you have rolls, use a band around the area that will help you hide it, wear spanx, or find a tight dress that has a little peplum skirt. If you cannot breathe then tight is not your thing. A dress should never stop you from breathing it should catch someone else’s breath when they see you. You may be a size zero but if a dress is too tight it may make you look like you just ate a whole pizza. If it you cannot zip it then do not keep it. Never struggle to zip something up because you can break the never or accidently zip some of your flesh, like the There’s Something about Mary scene. Be the talk of the party because of how tight you whole look was. Do not be the talkof the party because of how tight you looked in your dress. Fabric is key when purchasing a tight dress. Stay away from stretch fabric because it will not hug your curves and model them. If you already have it, spanx it up! Form fitted tight dress are great for work events. Find one that accentuates your chest area without showing too much. Peplum gives you a super professional look! The only tight thing at a family party should be your slicked back hair. None of your family members want to see your breasts. Who you trying to show your body off too? Your uncle? Loose top and tight bottom (you know I mean clothing right?) is...

Urban Outfitters Insanely Released a Bloody Kent State Sweatshirt

Urban Outfitters is no stranger to scandal thanks to their outrageous, and at times, obscene clothing lines. They’ve had shirts with an insignia similar to the one that the Nazi forces obligated the Jewish people to wear in the labor camps during the holocaust. Then there was the shirt which had the words “Eat Less” on it. As you can imagine, this would upset a lot of parents who are trying to teach their daughters to love themselves the way they are. A lot of celebrities, like Sophia Bush, took to protesting Urban Outfitters’ insane idea to promote a shirt that basically encouraged eating disorders like bulimia and anorexia. But if you think that’s bad, just wait until I tell you about their latest clothing line drama. Most folks these days won’t remember this but in 1970, the Vietnam War was in full force and this angered many people, particularly students. Kent State University students in Ohio did what most students did in those days and they protested and retaliated. Unfortunately, on May 4th of that same year, things got out of hand and four students were killed by the National Guard. Now, forty plus decades later, the memory of that terrible moment has come back to haunt Ohio and in the sickest way possible. Urban Outfitters released a one-off sale of a vintage Kent State sweatshirt with what appears to be blood spatter. Of course, being a one-off sale means that only one person was able to get their hands on it. This customer is either into collecting rare items or they’ve watching The Walking Dead and Dexter for too long. So what would have happened if this bloody sweatshirt had been mass-produced? Would it have been popular or just downright creepy? Just imagine seeing someone walking down the street with a bloodied sweatshirt. You’d probably ask yourself “is that their blood” or “did they attack someone and their blood got on it?”. Chaos, am I right? Given that this bloody sweatshirt isn’t exactly a workplace friendly or any kind of place friendly item, it’s probable that the owner is going to save it as a collector’s item. It could even be used at a Comic Con Convention, a zombie walk, or a piece for a Halloween outfit. But given the nature of what the Kent State University sweatshirt represents, it would likely be in poor taste. Despite the controversy, most customers, especially teenagers, won’t even remember what this vintage sweatshirt represents. So it’s bound to be popular if nothing else to make heads turn. After all, there’s nothing that teenagers and young adults love more than attention and...
