How To Get Rid Of The Most Difficult Stains In Your Clothes

Nothing is worse than coming back home from a nice day out and discover that you’ve unwillingly added a new pattern to your beautiful white shirt. Food, make-up, sweat or grass can end up ruining your clothes. Luckily, these tricks will help you get rid of the most annoying stains in your clothes. Crisis averted. Sweat Summer is the sweatiest season of the year, which means you’ll avoid wearing certain tops because you know they’ll end up with pit stains. Don’t worry, because there’s a way to get rid of them. Simply rub a dry bar of soap on the stained area before washing. If it is discolored, soak it in a mixture of white vinegar and hot water for a few minutes and then wash as normal. Foundation Nothing worse than taking off your shirt and staining it with make-up. For foundation, there’s an easy trick. Apply shaving cream to the stain and let it sit for thirty minutes to break down the foundation. Then, just wash as usual and be amazed at the results. Grass Grass is one of the trickiest stains to get rid of, ask any mom. If you enjoy outdoor activities but don’t enjoy the additional green spots in your clothes, try this trick. Apply your favorite pretreater to the stain and let it sit for 15 minutes so it works its way in. Then, scrub the stain working from the center outward. Wash as usual. Blood It happens. Don’t let it ruin your underwear. If the stain is fresh, apply a pretreater and follow up with a solution of water and ammonia. A paste of lemon juice and table salt works too. If the stain is dry, soak it in cold water (never use hot water to remove blood) before treating it. Wash in a cold setting. Grease If you touched your clothes with greasy fingers, don’t panic, there’s actually an easy way to get rid of grease stains. Apply a bit of dish detergent directly on the stain and gently rub it in to treat the area. After that, wash as usual and breathe in relief. Dish detergent is made to break down grease, that’s why this trick is so effective. Dirt Why is nature so dirty? When you come back home from that hike, brush off excess dirt form your clothes and soak them in a mix of warm water, white vinegar and dish detergent. Rinse it all off and dab rubbing alcohol in the parts that are still stained. Rinse it off and wash as you normally would. Ice cream We all scream when our cone falls right on top of...

Five Easy Tricks To Look Instantly Fashionable

You want to look like you came out of a fashion editorial spread, but don’t have the time or the resources to keep a team of stylists making you look flawless every second of the day. Don’t worry, most of us are in the same boat. Luckily, all those people working in fashion magazines came up with a bunch of tricks to make models look fantastic that require virtually no effort at all. And you are about to find out what they are. 1. Roll up your shirt sleeves Go to your closet and throw away all your short sleeved shirts. Just do it. If it has a collar, it needs to have long sleeves. Of course, this doesn’t mean your poor arms have to endure the summer heat all covered up. Simply roll your sleeves up. But don’t just do it willy-nilly, there’s a proper way. Fold the sleeve in half and then roll the fold up the arm until it’s just below the cuff, that should be sticking out. You will look more polished and chic than by sloppingly rolling up the whole sleeve. 2. Push up your blazer or jacket sleeves It is extremely flattering to push up the sleeves of your blazer. It is extremely un-flattering to be fiddling with them all day because they keep coming down. The solution? A couple of humble hair ties. Place a hair tie (or rubber band) around your elbow over the sleeve. Push up and gather the sleeve so it falls over the tie, hiding it in a natural way. 3. Roll up your jean cuffs Fashion is all about tucking and rolling. Next time you pair up your favorite pumps or stilettos with a pair of jeans, roll up the cuffs. It will make the jeans look more tailored (especially if you are wearing “boyfriend jeans” or looser cuts) and draw attention to your pretty shoes. Fold the cuff up a couple of inches and then fold again to leave only a little bit of the hemline visible to get that “flawlessly flawed” look. 4. Only tuck the front of your shirt If you want to show off your belt or jeans without looking to “stuck up” or prim, do a “mullet-tuck”. Simply tuck in the front half of your shirt, leaving the back half out. This look works best with jeans and collared, long-sleeve shirts. You will get an informal look that will flatter your figure and won’t make you look sloppy. 5. Tuck half of your shirt Another improvement to the regular tuck. Simply tuck in the side of your shirt that is under the...

How To Wear A Graphic Tee And Still Look Like An Adult

Graphic tees are a great way to showcase your personality. You can find cool logos, witty graphics, funny, thought-provoking and all around awesome prints. They come with one downside, though: they automatically make you look like you are 13 years old. Or so you thought. Here are some genius ways to wear a graphic tee without looking like a child. Maxi skirts = instant adult. Maxi skirts are usually perceived as more “mature” and “grown up” than jeans or miniskirts, and they are extremely comfortable to boot. Pair your graphic tee with a maxi skirt (if it has a cool print, all the better), heels and maybe some bracelets or a hat to make the outfit look more complete. Add some structure with a blazer. Blazers are one of those items that add years to your look because they are seen as more formal than other coats. But you don’t have to be going to a job interview to rock a blazer. Combine it with some structured pants, a nice belt and maybe a clutch. And yes, a graphic tee to make the outfit feel more relaxed. Dress shirts are the exact opposite of graphic tees. And yet, they work extremely well together. Even thought the weather is getting warmer, you can still rock your layering skills for your spring outfits. Find a collared dress shirt and wear it under your graphic tee to give the impression of a complete, balanced look and not a “I threw on the first top I could find” look. Leather adds edge to your life. And your look. Match your cool graphic tee with a well-fitted leather jacket or even leather pants, if you are feeling bold. Finish your outfit with some statement sunglasses and eye-catching jewelery to tie up your look. High waisted shorts will balance short tops. And they can work with waist-length tees too, as long as you tuck them in and pair with a nice belt. Accessorize with multiple bracelets or an eye-catching necklace,, and pair up with high-heels or flats. It’s all about the shoes. Even the most basic T-shirt and jeans combination can look more mature with the right shoes. Sneakers? You are in high-school. Heels or dressy flats? You are a contributing member of society with a job. Easy as that. Pencil skirts are your friends. Knee-length pencil skirts (or maybe just a little bit above the knee), combined with heels will give you the unmistakeable silhouette of a grown woman. Throw on your favorite graphic tee and tuck in the front, or completely tuck it in if you can add a belt. Finish the look...

Essential Make-Up Trends For Spring 2015

Spring is already here and it’s time to renew your style from head to toe. You are probably reorganizing your closet right now, but this is also a great time to shake up your make-up case a little bit. Gone are the days of smokey eyes and other safe winter looks that you know damn well are your safe ‘go-to’ party looks. Spring calls for bold, vibrant make-up, babe! So here are some of the make-up trends for this season you can’t go without.  Fierce Blue Eyeliner  Ditch your regular old black eyeliner. It has served you well, but Spring 2015 requires a bolder color. Specifically, blue. It doesn’t matter the shade you choose, this season there is one perfect blue liner for every look. When you go to for your typical winged eyeliner, trade black for a rich, deep blue and create a sharp cat-eye effect. This will get you a dramatic and vibrant look. If you want something a little less out there, find a soft baby blue liner and apply it to your inner eyelid. This will make your eyes pop and look bigger. To avoid over-saturating your look, pair up your blue liner with a neutral, low-key color for your lips, to avoid taking attention away from your eyes.  Bold Oxblood Lipstick  Instead of dressing up your eyes, you want your mouth to steal the spotlight, Spring 2015 is the time to try out deep red lips and experience something we haven’t seen in other collections. This season, dark matte lipstick is your go-to rouge. Pick deep, purplish reds, like oxblood when buying a new lipstick this spring. And eye-catching red lipstick is the perfect way to tie up your look and look instantly dressed up in one simple step. The only thing you should be aware of is balance. Keep your eye make-up minimal and choose a shade of red that compliments your skin, to avoid looking overdone.  Strong, Thick Brows  Oh, yes. Strong eyebrows are still “in” this season. You can thank Cara Delevigne for that. We all know that the shape of your eyebrows can pretty much completely change your face, and it turns out that “thin, overly plucked Barbie brows” are not our only choice. Big, bushy, arched brows add strength to your look and the good news is you don’t need to be genetically blessed to achieve the fierce Delevigne brow. Just get some pencils, brushes and gels, and start filling in. Thick, perfectly shaded eyebrows are almost a complete look on their own, since they frame your face and draw attention to your eyes. This means that you should...

Beauty Hacks To Make Styling As Easy As 1, 2, Chic!

Lady Gaga’s worldwide ‘feel-good-about-yourself’ anthem -I was born this way- was one of the biggest hits of all times. Embracing how you were born seems to be were our generation is gearing towards and we cannot help but clap and sort of get teary-eyed. But just because you love yourself and know you’re definitely ALL THAT, does not mean you might not need some extra beauty hacks to make applying makeup and styling your locks easier! Everyone does. So here’s the best tips we’ve been able to get from world renown makeup artists and stylists!  Lady in White. Well, not on your clothing, but on your face. Countouring with white instead of just a lighter shade than your skin tone is the best bit of advice we got from a set of MAC’s makeup gurus who explained this to be an old trick that drag queens used to get that ‘well defined airbushed’ look. Apply around the eyes, and cheekbones. A tiny bit on the top of your lips and the inner corner of your eyes.   Be a Tease! At least when it comes to hair extensions. Before you put on those clip-in hair extensions, make sure to either braid a small tiny braid that starts at the root, or simply tease the area where you will attach your clips. Then cover it up with the hair on top and voila!     Nailing the ‘cat-eyed’ or ‘winged’ eyeliner look is not easy. But Charlotte Tilbury, an amazing makeup artist you must have seen on Youtube, suggests we draw 3 tiny dots to lead our pulse, and basically play the old game ‘connect the dots’ until we’ve drawn a perfect cat eyed winged look. It also takes practice.       Avoid your mascaras to dry up. With this amazing trick I learned from Gossmakeupartist, (you can also find this makeup genius on Youtube.) Don’t remove the cap and put it back on two to three times to take more product with your mascara brush! You’re only getting air into the tube, which dries it up before it should. The brush will already come out with product.   Avoid damp, flat, nasty hair. If you’re naturally oily, then this trick is perfect for you. When excess oil is found at the root, your hair will fall flat on your head making you distressed and feel like you might need to wash it to ‘revamp’ the way it looks. But if you’re running late, you should try any dry-shampoo. Although Aveda’s our favorite. Apply dry-shampoo at the roots and your hair will look like it has just been washed....
