Clean Out Your Make-Up Bag

Have you cleaned out your make up bag recently? Have you had a swatch of eye shadow since the 1990’s? Well like any other products, make up does have an expiration date. The FDA  does not require cosmetic companies to list the expiration dates on their beauty products, however a few companies do! Thanks to Blossy, we have a guide line for when it’s time to toss your make-up. If you use your make-up every day, you probably won’t get to the suggested expiration. However, it is very important to keep in mind the expiration dates of your makeup because it can cause some major problems. Expired makeup can cause infections, breakouts, pink eye, skin rash, and even skin sores.  It’s time to clean out your make-up bag and clean your brushes! Foundation.  3-6 months. Depending on the type of concealer you are using depends on the shelf life of the product. If you are using a wand concealer it can last for about 6 months however stick, twist-up tubes, or compact concealers can last up to 12 months. You should only keep these products for a maximum of one to two years. The reason you can keep these makeup products a little bit longer is because you are normally using make up brushes to apply these products which helps eliminate some bacteria. You still have to clean your make up brushes (check below for how often they have to be cleaned). Do not keep your mascara longer for 4 months! With the frequency this product is used and the close proximity of your eye, when used longer than 4 months it can cause pink eye and eye infections! Also do not pump your mascara (it exposes the mascara to air) but swirl your mascara instead. Nail polish should generally only be kept for 12 months. I know of many people that keep their nail polishes longer than that but the chemicals in the nail polish can cause skin damage if kept too long. Thanks to the ladies over at Blossy for the information on how long to keep make-up!  Watch the video below to learn about what you should toss and what you should keep! It’s a little long but it’s worth it!...

Even though you can easily pull all of your lengthy locks back into a braid, leaving a few wisps hanging softens the look for a more romantic vibe. Don’t be too concerned with getting the fishtail itself perfect either—the more tousled, the better! While short hair Use your short layers to your advantage for this edgy style! Letting them poke out of the tail of your braid makes for a roughed up ‘do that’s way cool. Your Make-up- Make sure to keep your makeup looking natural and effortless will help to avoid looking overdone, and also speeds up your morning routine. We all need our beauty rest, so keep it simple. Look for long-lasting foundation. It is good for school because you’re going to be spending a lot of time in class and don’t want to have to keep touching up. Setting your foundation with a powder will help keep your foundation matte, too. For great make-up tutorials, make sure to check out this video. Don’t Forget: To do your nails: If you bite your nails this would be good for you because the taste of nail polish doesn’t taste that good. Let them grow because short stubby dirty nails gross people out more then dazzle them. Try to have clean, clear skin: Your skin is usually the first thing people look at besides teeth! Try to rinse your face with a beauty bar daily, and also try this scrub: mix four tablespoons plain yogurt with two tablespoons grated orange peel. Massage mixture into face for three minutes. How To Clean Make Up Brushes

Make up brushes are major magnets for dirt, sweat, and bacteria. Be sure to clean them every two to three weeks in order to keep them sanitary and prevent bacteria related breakouts. You can either find a special make up brush cleaning solution at a beauty supply store or just use a gentle baby shampoo (such as Aubrey Organics Natural Baby & Kids Shampoo – $4 for 8 ounces) that doesn’t have harsh detergents or scents.   Follow the below steps:   1)    Hold the bristles of the brushes under warm running water. 2)    Apply a few drops of the cleaning solution or baby shampoo to the bristles and rub to a lather. 3)    Rinse the bristles of the brushes under warm running water until the water runs clear. Keep rinsing until the water that runs off the bristles is clean and without make up, dirt or shampoo suds. 4)    Lay a clean towel out on your bathroom counter and spread the brushes out on the towel. 5)    Allow the brushes to air...
