How To Stop Your Make-up From Melting Off

You are not going to stop wearing make-up just because it’s a little warm outside. Of course, you will have to take a few extra precautions to make sure your look stays flawless throughout the day instead of melting off at the first sign of sweat. The ‘melted candle look’ is never going to be in! And trust me, looking flawless during the summer can be done! 1. Make-up setting spray is a thing We live in the future and wonderful women before us already got tired of this melting issue. Which is why we can enjoy make-up setting spray today. Spritz before and after your make up routine to minimize the chance of the heat ruining your fierce look. 2. Use powder-based eye shadow Cream shadows will melt easier, especially if you have oily lids. Remember to dab primer on your lids before applying your make up to avoid that horrible crease made of caked-make-up. 3. Use face primer after your make up After you are done with your look, dab a bit of face primer on your forehead and nose to stop your face from looking “shiny” throughout the day. 4. Get your wax on If you use eyebrow pencils, get some with wax in them. This is because they will hold better their texture and color throughout the day and they won’t just rub off like other pencils. 5. Use the right pattern A lot of beauty bloggers swear off liquid foundation the second the temperature rises up a bit. But there’s no need to completely avoid it, you just need to know how to apply it, Use light strokes in a criss-cross pattern to minimize streak marks when you sweat. After you are don, lightly dab powder foundation on top of the liquid one to set it. Use light pats, don’t drag the brush. 6. Keep oil blotting sheets in your purse at all times When your skin starts to get shiny later in the day, gently dab your face with oil blotting sheets to get rid of the excess oil and keep your face looking flawless until you get home. 7. Trade the eye-shadow for eyeliner Adapt your summer looks to lighter, fresher alternatives. Forget eye-shadow on hot days, it will rub off and give you beautiful raccoon eyes. Go for a bold winged liner instead. Use waterproof, 24-hour eyeliner to avoid the smudging that comes with regular pencils. And add waterproof mascara. Make sure it can stand the sweat. 8. Set your lipstick with translucent powder Gently dab or blot translucent powder on top of your regular lipstick. This will give you a...

Lauren Cornad Bans Body Shaming From Her Website

Lauren Conrad is one of those fashionistas that just inspire you. Her perfect hair, flawless look, unique style and outfits definitely have inspired more than one daily look. But now she will inspire much more than selfies of your Outfit Of The Day. She is now taking a stand against body shaming and promoting body positivity in her own website. Making us associate the statement ‘you go girl’ with her name from now on. Your earned it, girlfriend! As you may or may not know, the former star of MTV’s The Hills runs a lifestyle website where she writes about fitness, style, beauty, food and even arts and crafts. In her latest blog post, she announced a small, but significant change on her “get fit” section. She will stop using words like “skinny”, “thin” or “slim” when talking about exercise. This is her attempt to remove the focus from weight and losing a set amount of pounds, and bring to light what really matters: healthy living. On her blog, titled “Letter From Lauren”, Conrad shared that “when we’ve talked bout getting in shape in the past, words like skinny, slim and thin have often come up. Starting this month, we’ll be banning any body shaming terms from the site, and replacing them with words like fit, toned and healthy”, she vowed. “We try to do this for the most part anyway, but now we are making it official!”. Her website had always been about sharing a positive message and encouragement, and this announcement makes it even easier to love it. “The word skinny will now be reserved for skinny jeans”, continued the post. “My editorial team and I had a long talk about it, and we want to make sure that the focus is on being fit as opposed to a number on the scale”, she wrote. “Every body is created differently and healthy bodies come in all shapes and sizes”. Truer words have never been written. Hopefully, this is a trend that will spread to every corner of the web. The response to the announcement was overwhelmingly positive, with fans and readers thanking her for this move on her part. This post was not without controversy, though. Some commenters were pointing out that, despite her good intentions, Lauren may have given off the vibe of shaming skinny girls. However, the blog never said anything negative about thin bodies and Conrad explained that all she wants to do is promote the idea that every body is beautiful and deserves love. After all, exercising works best because you love your body and want to keep it healthy. The number on the...

Get The Perfect Ponytail With These 4 Easy Tricks

Get The Perfect Ponytail With These 4 Easy Tricks

Ponytails are the best. They are an easy way to keep your hair out of your face, they work great for summer days, they are perfect for bad hair days and they take no effort. However, even something as simple as a ponytail can end up looking underwhelming. Or boring. Here’s how to get the perfect ponytail for the occasion. 1. Stack two ponytails for a fuller, longer look. You heard me. The magical double ponytail will give the illusion of thicker, fuller and longer hair, and all you need is two hair ties. Just divide your hair in two, get the top half out of the way and tie the bottom half up in a low ponytail. Now tie the top half in another ponytail, in a way that it covers the other hair tie. You can tease or texturize your hair for better results. This trick works great for curly hair and it will give the illusion of a longer mane. 2. Prop up your ponytail for better height All you need is a butterfly hair clip. Tie your hair up in a ponytail and separate a portion from the top. Place a tinny butterfly clip as close to the elastic as possible and let the top portion fall on it to conceal it. This works best if you tease the hair a little bit. The result is a taller, fuller and bouncier ponytail that looks natural as well. Another way to prop up your hair is to use two or three bobby pins. After tying your hair up, slide the bobby pins down, straight through the elastic on the bottom. The ponytail will hold up and keep its height better throughout the day. 3. Get the perfect wrapped look If you want to get a flawless look for your wrapped ponytail the secret is a curling iron. After tying your hair up, use a curling iron for that little strand before wrapping it around the elastic. If you don’t have a bobby pin handy, you can also get the wrap around ponytail on the go. Once you tie your hair up, separate a strand and wrap it around the elastic. Now, pull a portion of the elastic at the base to create a gap and slide the hair there. Pull it tighter and enjoy your wrapped around look. This method will last even longer than a bobby pin and you won’t run the risk of the pin falling out or poking you in the head. 4. Use the power of braids If you have layered or short hair, chances are tiny strands of hair keep falling...

DIY Beauty Products You Need To Try

It’s not easy looking fabulous. Beauty routines are important and they make you feel as good as you look. But instead of spending insane amounts of money on new products every month, why don’t you try these DIY alternatives? These are natural ways to step up your routine that will make you feel crafty and are as good for your skin as they are for your wallet. Remove make-up with just three ingredients Make-up remover can be too harsh and end up drying or damaging your skin, especially around your eyes. You can actually make a very effective and gentle eye make-up remover with only three ingredients that will cost you almost no money. Mix half a tablespoon of No Tears Baby Shampoo with one quarter teaspoon of coconut oil (use olive oil if you are allergic). Pour into a small container with a lid and fill the rest with water. That is all. The oil and water will separate, so you need to shake the container before using it every time. Believe it or not, this remover will wipe even the most stubborn goop right of your eyes. And it smells fantastic. Apple and oats face scrub Apple is famous for its high content of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, which means it will renew your skin better than any store-bought anti-aging cream. That’s why it’s perfect for this face (and body!) scrub. Mix one cup of pureed apple (or organic, unsweetened applesauce) with one teaspoon of sweet almond oil and ¾ cup of plain rolled oats. The oats will be in charge of exfoliating of this scrub, you can substitute them for sugar or your favorite exfoliant. Finally, the almond oil will make your skin feel softer and keep it moisturized. To use, simply rub on your wet face with a circular motion, leave for 15 minutes and rinse with enough water to get rid of all the product. This scrub is also great to use on your legs before shaving, so you get a closer shave without unsightly red bumps. The mix can keep in your fridge for up to a week, so don’t worry if you don’t use it all up in one sitting. All-natural berry lip stain If you want to give your lips a touch of deep, red color, but you are not sure about the chemicals and artificial ingredients in store-bought products, you can make your own. And it doesn’t get more natural than this. Simply mash three blackberries and one raspberry together in a small bowl. Then, squeeze three pomegranate seeds to get the juice into the bowl and mix well. Finally, add...

How To clean Everything In Your Makeup Bag

How To clean Everything In Your Makeup Bag

You probably never thought about all the germs and bacteria that can accumulate in your makeup products but the truth is that you are definitely not cleaning them as much as you should. And cleaning and sanitizing everything in your makeup bag is not only, better for your health, it is also super satisfying. Eyelash curler – After many, many uses, your eyelash curler probably has a good buildup of old mascara, even if you rinse it a bit after every use. But you can wipe all that gunk right off with the help of a lighter. Hold the flame near the curler to heat it up for a few seconds. Then, wipe it off with a tissue. The heat of the flame will melt the old mascara so you can wipe it off, but it will also kill all the bacteria living in it. Of course, this method will not work with plastic curlers, as they can melt. Metal only! Lipstick – You don’t need to “clean” lipstick so much as “sanitize” it. Lipstick is a great place for virus and bacteria to hang out, multiply and get you sick. This is why you should freeze it. Once a week or so, stick your lipstick tube in the freezer overnight to kill all the bacteria and germs. The next morning, take it out and leave it until it reaches room temperature before applying it. Pressed powders – For obvious reasons, you won’t be able to wipe your pressed powders clean, but this doesn’t mean you can’t disinfect them. Find a small spray bottle and fill it with regular rubbing alcohol. Spritz it (lightly!) on your powder cosmetics and leave them to dry to disinfect them. Now you can put them on your face without worrying about germs. Makeup brushes – Good quality makeup brushes can last a lifetime, but this doesn’t mean you should deny yourself that “brand new” feel. Mix two parts of baby shampoo with one part olive oil. Pour into a small plate with a little bit of water and pick up the mixture with your brush. Swish it around a bit to get a nice lather going and then rinse thoroughly with water. Gently squeeze the excess water out and then let air dry, propping the handle of the brush so it’s higher than the bristles. As good as new. Metal tools – Scissors, tweezers, pencil sharpeners, clippers and even nail files. All your metal tools should be disinfected. You only need rubbing alcohol, cotton swabs and patience. Use the swab all of your tools with alcohol, making sure to get all the nooks...
