Ginger Locks For The Fall Season

Ginger Locks For The Fall Season

So it seems that I am going down the Disney princess list one by one. No I am not killing them. I sure am killing their hair colors one by one, but in a good way. I went blonde like Aurora, and then I went dark like Snow White, now I am daring to become ginger like Ariel.  I have always wanted red hair. Run a fork through it. Oh wait, Ariel does that. Anyway, let me tell you how I gingered my dark hair for the fall season. It was as easy as 1, 2, and ginger snap. In all honesty, I sold my voice to Ursula, the sea wench and she dyed my hair. Ursula is also my hair dresser’s name. A coincidence you might say? Ok, I’ll be honest with you. I’m a Disney freak and I looked for a hair dresser with her name. Guilty! There really are no simple at-home remedies to dye your hair ginger without floundering it up. I just followed what Sebastian, the crab, once said to Ariel, “Girl, get in the seat, and let the human take the wheel.” Or at least I think he said that to her. Be prepared beforehand. Step one: Consult with your hairstylist. They will know what will be best for your hair. Do not be that fish out of water. Step two: Find out which shade of red you are daring enough to rock out at sea. Step three: Understand that if your hair is dark that some bleaching will be involved to lighten the hair color before the shade of red is dye. Step four: Do not be caught with your mermaid’s tail between your legs halfway through the process. You do not want an America’s Next Top Model hissy fit moment. Remember: There is no dread in going red. Two extra tips: Lemon Juice: It will lighten your hair and give you ginger hues; plus it will make your hair smell good. All you need to do is squeeze 5 lemons into a bowl then put it on your hair evenly with a comb. Let it sit for 35 minutes before you rinse it off. Cranberry juice: Will enhance your ginger highlights. It is natural and it will not damage your hair. All you need to do is get a cup of cranberry juice and pour it through your hair. Tie it up in a bun after you have worked the juice thoroughly in your hair. Put your blow dryer on the lowest setting or as Ariel would put it, “Thingamabob.” One the juice is dried, rinse it out and you automatically...

Have a Fresh Face for Under $50

My daily face wash routine was mainly lukewarm water on my face with some hand soap. I know what you are thinking…lazy. Not really. I am thinking more along the lines of broke. I went on a face wash journey to find the cheapest yet good quality face care product a broke girl like me could jump for glee over.  First things first, I’m the cheapest. In all honesty, the first step anyone should take: knowing what skin type they have. The last thing you want to do is buy a lot of product just because it is on sale and come home to find out that none of it works on your skin. It is not like that happened to me or anything. I just heard about it. My skin type is sensitive and dry so these products are for this skin type. You need to look for fragrant-free and soothing quality products. The less harshness the product offers the better for your skin it will be. Here are the basics. Cleanser: I love anything with foam, so when I found a foam cleanser for a cheap price I was so happy. Mine is Aveeno Ultra-Calming Foam Cleanser. I got it for $8 dollars at my local Wal-Mart. Since I have very dry skin, I only cleanse my face at night. This helps with over drying my delicate skin. Face Lotion: I cannot live without my Olay Complete All Day UV Moisturizer. I got it for $9 dollars at Walgreens. I use it at least four times a day. It has SPF 15 which protects me from the sun, and it is fragrant free. Plus it contains Aloe and Vitamin E. Rinse your face in the morning with lukewarm water and apply the moisturizer to your face. You will look fresh faced in no time. Exfoliating Scrub: My sensitive dry skin cries every time I mention the word scrub. It is bad for my skin type. What I mainly do is get a little bit of dry oatmeal and mix it with my Aveeno Cleanser. Save money and use a product for two things. I only exfoliate once a week.  After every exfoliation apply your face lotion to reduce any redness. If you cleanse at night and moisturize in the morning then you will have that fresh face glow everyone will talk about. Some might even think you went to the spa. I spent $45 dollars because I bought 2 Aveeno cleansers, and 3 Olay moisturizers. They last for about two weeks and a half. I spent the other $5 dollars on soft face towels to use during...

How To Get Ready Faster In The Morning (You’re Welcome!)

I just love it when my alarm clock goes off for the twelfth time. Snooze again please! I love looking at the time and realizing that I only have twenty minutes to look beautiful before I have to get to class and impress my crush, Jacob. Looking good real quick is one of my strengths. I learned a lot of tricks along the way that I guess I can share with you gals. It is not about how quick you can do the task; it is about how good you can do it and making it look like it took you hours. I mean I can stop hitting the snooze button, but in all honesty, I probably will not. Quick hairstyles: Side pony-twist– just wet your hair and push it all to one side. Part it into two strands and twist. Movie star sleek– Put gel only on the top and sides of your hair. Comb it back. Get a blow dryer, dry it for 20 seconds to set it. You look like a movie star. Breakfast Bun– it has nothing to do with breakfast…Put your hair in a bun and use hairspray to help with the frizz. The messier it looks the better it looks. (Jacob’s favorite.) Wet braid– wet your hair and braid it. When you get to school, unbraid it and you will have Rachel Bilson wavy hair just like she had on The O.C. Forgot to wash your hair? Two things: use dry shampoo, and do not sit next to me. By using dry shampoo it help get rid of some of the oil in your hair, and use your hands to style it. No bird nest looks for me unless it is Halloween. If you wake up with a tangled mess on your head then there are two things to do: cut it short or comb some conditioner through it at night before you go to sleep. Your hair will be silky smooth in the morning to style. Eyes: I watched season three of The O.C. all the way through last night. My eyes are so dead. I soak some cotton balls in my morning green tea and then put them on my eyes to help with the puffiness I got from crying after Marisa died on the season 3 finale. Oops, did I spoil it for you guys? Whatever! Makeup: Flawless mornings do not exist. Easy makeup tricks to look beautiful do. Eyeliner– use white eyeliner to give you that good morning I’m not tired look. Lipstick- using a bold lipstick will give your face a freshened up look without applying any other...

Six Baby Powder Tricks For Your Beauty Routine

Six Baby Powder Tricks For Your Beauty Routine

Baby powder is a must have especially when it comes to daily beauty routines. It is one of the most helpful products anyone can have. This powder is cheap too. Poof and all of your beauty problems are gone. Plus you get to smell freshly clean. You do not have to be a baby to use it. Use it so you can look good for your baby (the one that takes you out on a date). Here are six easy ways on how baby powder can help you. Brassy roots: A lot of girls like dyeing their hair blonde or even platinum and at times the roots look brassy. When your hair is fully dry, put some baby powder on your hair and comb it through. It will disguise the brassy roots. Sweat: If you are like me and sweat a lot when you get nervous then baby powder is your friend for life. The last thing you want is to look like a hot sweaty mess when you are going out on a first date, or a job interview. Dab some powder under your boobs to keep them from sweating, and also rub baby powder between your sweaty hands to soak up any excess moisture. They will stay soft, dry, and smell good. No one likes shaking a sweaty hand. Putting on gloves can be difficult at times especially when you are going to dye your hair. Rubbing some baby powder in your hands will soak up the moisture and make putting on the gloves a lot easier. Shaving: I do not like passing a razor on my delicate soft skin. That is until I found out that by putting some baby powder on my skin prior to putting on the shaving cream, it causes less friction and I bleed less. Plus my legs feel silky smooth afterwards. Great to do if you wax too since it will add some cool freshness after the wax. Stinky Feet: No one ever wants to ruin their heels by having them stink to high-heaven. Before and after you show off your Louis Vuitton heels, sprinkle them with some baby powder. The powder will absorb any moisture during the wear and then absorb any smells while they sleep in their pent house shoe box. Dirty Hair: Forgot to wash your hair last night, and are you out of dry shampoo? No problem. Use baby powder. Put a thin layer of powder close to the roots. It will absorb the excess oils. If your hair is dark then mix the powder with some cocoa powder. If your hair is red then use some...

Hair Dye Gone Dark

Hair Dye Gone Dark

So I woke up like Aurora a few months ago with my beautiful blond locks. Today I feel like becoming Snow White. Well…not her literally. I just want to dye my hair dark like hers.  The summer is gone and fall is here. I feel blue and my hair feels dry. It is time for a change. Now that you went through the ‘I want be a blonde’ phase and dyed your hair blond; why not go dark like me. Dark as in dark roast coffee black or midnight black. The dark shades are endless and can come out too purple-ish if done wrong.  Consult a hairstylist before you attempt to darken your hair. Some colors go well with certain skin tones. Here are some easy at home tips that will give you a strand in dyeing your hair. (Pun intended) Coffee: Twice a week make sure to wake up in the morning and brew enough coffee for two cups. One to drink and the other to put in a spray bottle once it is cool. Spray your hair after you have washed it. Leave it in your hair for up to ten minutes, or however long it takes you to drink your coffee. Then rinse it out. You will see a boost in color and much needed richness. Jell-O: A dessert your hair will dye for. You need two packs of cherry or black cherry Jell-O mix; white conditioner; gloves; towel you can stain/throw away; and plastic wrap. Take the two packs, and conditioner. Mix them together until you get a semi-thick texture like soft-serve ice-cream. Put your towel around your neck. Apply the mixture to your hair as evenly as possible. Put the plastic wrap/shower cap over your hair. Let it set for an hour and a half. Eat some Jell-O while you wait. Once done, wash it out with semi-warm water only. Then dry. Voila! Tea: Easy as 1, 2 and tea! Boil three to four bags of black tea until it simmers down. Make sure to have at least enough to fill the squirt bottle/dye applicator. Fill the bottle once the tea is cooled. Now just apply it to your hair evenly. After an hour, rinse it off with cold water only. If the shade is not dark enough for then do the process as many times as you want. Using tea bags to dye your hair bring the bounce back in it. There you have it. Who knew that all I needed to dye my hair dark was already in my pantry. I spent less than $2 dollars and renewed my hair. Never be...

10 Beginner Makeup Items for Under $50

As a lover of anything that involves makeup I always look for great deals on the basics. Many companies offer real expensive kits that do not offer many options other than a good brush, and possible eye shadow colors that will make you cringe. Looking beautiful does not have to cost you a fortune. For under $50 dollars you can stock up your makeup kit with ten items that will give you a beautiful face for many times. Clear out your kit of all the makeup you never use and make room for new things that will make your life a bit easier. You can find most of the following products at your local drugstore for very cheap. My favorite place is E.L.F. also known as eyeslipsface.com, is one elf you do not have to wait for holidays to visit. They offer good quality and cheap makeup products that you can afford. Great for people on a budget like me. These are the basics to keep you from looking basic. Concealer: Conceal the truth. Not everyone has perfect skin. It does not mean that for $4 bucks I cannot make it look like I do.  Conceal and look unreal. It will make blending colors a little better. Blush: A little blush here. A little blush there. Looking real cute makes the boys blush everywhere. Elf and NYX cosmetics, along with Maybelline carry amazing shades of blushes in the best price range: for 5 you can find the most beautiful coral, pink or neutral browns while saving tons of money. Talk about a cheeky situation! Eyelash Curler: Those babies do not curl themselves. Do not buy too cheap when it comes to these. You want them to curl your lashes not rip them out. Tip: curl them before your put mascara on. If they are dry then lashes do not go bye bye. Get a great curler for $3 bucks on ebay, or as low as $1.50 if you order from China. Eyeliner: Great to have around for those days when you just want to give your eye a pop of excitement without doing the whole eye up. A handy item that is great for looking cute on laundry day (in my case).  You can find them ranging anywhere from $1 to $3 dollars at your local drugstores, or on-line, on Amazon and Ebay. Eye shadow Palettes: A variety of colors. Find the colors that suit you. Just because they all look good in the box, it does not mean they will all look good on you. I recommend you spend a bit more on your eye shadow palettes. NYX...
