How To Stop Your Make-up From Melting Off

You are not going to stop wearing make-up just because it’s a little warm outside. Of course, you will have to take a few extra precautions to make sure your look stays flawless throughout the day instead of melting off at the first sign of sweat. The ‘melted candle look’ is never going to be in! And trust me, looking flawless during the summer can be done! 1. Make-up setting spray is a thing We live in the future and wonderful women before us already got tired of this melting issue. Which is why we can enjoy make-up setting spray today. Spritz before and after your make up routine to minimize the chance of the heat ruining your fierce look. 2. Use powder-based eye shadow Cream shadows will melt easier, especially if you have oily lids. Remember to dab primer on your lids before applying your make up to avoid that horrible crease made of caked-make-up. 3. Use face primer after your make up After you are done with your look, dab a bit of face primer on your forehead and nose to stop your face from looking “shiny” throughout the day. 4. Get your wax on If you use eyebrow pencils, get some with wax in them. This is because they will hold better their texture and color throughout the day and they won’t just rub off like other pencils. 5. Use the right pattern A lot of beauty bloggers swear off liquid foundation the second the temperature rises up a bit. But there’s no need to completely avoid it, you just need to know how to apply it, Use light strokes in a criss-cross pattern to minimize streak marks when you sweat. After you are don, lightly dab powder foundation on top of the liquid one to set it. Use light pats, don’t drag the brush. 6. Keep oil blotting sheets in your purse at all times When your skin starts to get shiny later in the day, gently dab your face with oil blotting sheets to get rid of the excess oil and keep your face looking flawless until you get home. 7. Trade the eye-shadow for eyeliner Adapt your summer looks to lighter, fresher alternatives. Forget eye-shadow on hot days, it will rub off and give you beautiful raccoon eyes. Go for a bold winged liner instead. Use waterproof, 24-hour eyeliner to avoid the smudging that comes with regular pencils. And add waterproof mascara. Make sure it can stand the sweat. 8. Set your lipstick with translucent powder Gently dab or blot translucent powder on top of your regular lipstick. This will give you a...

DIY Bling To Shine Like The Sun

Feeling like upgrading your jewelry game but don’t want to spend too much money? Make your own bling! Explore your creativity and get some awesome accessories that will make you shine. Five-minute necklace This is probably the easiest DIY you will ever make. All you need is an old chain necklace that you want to spice up, gold and silver work best, and nail polish. Use two or three colors to paint a portion of the chain in a pattern that you like. Let it dry. That’s it. This is a project that you can complete while you are deciding what to watch on Netflix, it’s that fast. Just be careful not to smudge the polish while it dries. Turn your old tees into bracelets All you need is old t-shirts that you don’t mind completely destroying and some colorful electrical tape. And god, sharp scissors. Cut all the seams off the shirt and then cut long strips out of the fabric. Make sure they are around one inch wide. Grab both of the extremes of each strip and pull until the fabric rolls on itself. Separate the strips into groups and just braid away. You can experiment with traditional braids or fishtail, depends on the texture that you prefer. After you are done, use the electrical tape in a complementary color to tape the extremes of your braid and bring them together to make a necklace or bracelet. That’s it, it’s the perfect accessory for a music festival outdoors. From twig to bracelet Summer brings out the nature lover in all of us, so why not use that to your advantage? Go outside and find some thin and fresh twigs. Make sure they are pliable and long enough to bend them around your arm. Now, bend them to form a bracelet big enough to slide your hand inside. Use a hot glue gun to secure the bracelet and get rid of stray splinters or growths. Use a sharp scissor to cut the excess so you end up with a single (almost) perfect circle. Now you can spray-paint it with some gold or silver paint for the finishing touches. You will have a new nature-chic accessory that took you no time or effort to make. You can use the same process on a smaller scale to make matching rings and complete the look. Your ears need love too Find some inexpensive hoop earrings that are a good size for you and find embroidery thread in colors you like. Now, with patience, wrap the thread around the earring until it’s completely covered. You can use multiple colors to create patterns...

Lauren Cornad Bans Body Shaming From Her Website

Lauren Conrad is one of those fashionistas that just inspire you. Her perfect hair, flawless look, unique style and outfits definitely have inspired more than one daily look. But now she will inspire much more than selfies of your Outfit Of The Day. She is now taking a stand against body shaming and promoting body positivity in her own website. Making us associate the statement ‘you go girl’ with her name from now on. Your earned it, girlfriend! As you may or may not know, the former star of MTV’s The Hills runs a lifestyle website where she writes about fitness, style, beauty, food and even arts and crafts. In her latest blog post, she announced a small, but significant change on her “get fit” section. She will stop using words like “skinny”, “thin” or “slim” when talking about exercise. This is her attempt to remove the focus from weight and losing a set amount of pounds, and bring to light what really matters: healthy living. On her blog, titled “Letter From Lauren”, Conrad shared that “when we’ve talked bout getting in shape in the past, words like skinny, slim and thin have often come up. Starting this month, we’ll be banning any body shaming terms from the site, and replacing them with words like fit, toned and healthy”, she vowed. “We try to do this for the most part anyway, but now we are making it official!”. Her website had always been about sharing a positive message and encouragement, and this announcement makes it even easier to love it. “The word skinny will now be reserved for skinny jeans”, continued the post. “My editorial team and I had a long talk about it, and we want to make sure that the focus is on being fit as opposed to a number on the scale”, she wrote. “Every body is created differently and healthy bodies come in all shapes and sizes”. Truer words have never been written. Hopefully, this is a trend that will spread to every corner of the web. The response to the announcement was overwhelmingly positive, with fans and readers thanking her for this move on her part. This post was not without controversy, though. Some commenters were pointing out that, despite her good intentions, Lauren may have given off the vibe of shaming skinny girls. However, the blog never said anything negative about thin bodies and Conrad explained that all she wants to do is promote the idea that every body is beautiful and deserves love. After all, exercising works best because you love your body and want to keep it healthy. The number on the...

Get The Perfect Ponytail With These 4 Easy Tricks

Get The Perfect Ponytail With These 4 Easy Tricks

Ponytails are the best. They are an easy way to keep your hair out of your face, they work great for summer days, they are perfect for bad hair days and they take no effort. However, even something as simple as a ponytail can end up looking underwhelming. Or boring. Here’s how to get the perfect ponytail for the occasion. 1. Stack two ponytails for a fuller, longer look. You heard me. The magical double ponytail will give the illusion of thicker, fuller and longer hair, and all you need is two hair ties. Just divide your hair in two, get the top half out of the way and tie the bottom half up in a low ponytail. Now tie the top half in another ponytail, in a way that it covers the other hair tie. You can tease or texturize your hair for better results. This trick works great for curly hair and it will give the illusion of a longer mane. 2. Prop up your ponytail for better height All you need is a butterfly hair clip. Tie your hair up in a ponytail and separate a portion from the top. Place a tinny butterfly clip as close to the elastic as possible and let the top portion fall on it to conceal it. This works best if you tease the hair a little bit. The result is a taller, fuller and bouncier ponytail that looks natural as well. Another way to prop up your hair is to use two or three bobby pins. After tying your hair up, slide the bobby pins down, straight through the elastic on the bottom. The ponytail will hold up and keep its height better throughout the day. 3. Get the perfect wrapped look If you want to get a flawless look for your wrapped ponytail the secret is a curling iron. After tying your hair up, use a curling iron for that little strand before wrapping it around the elastic. If you don’t have a bobby pin handy, you can also get the wrap around ponytail on the go. Once you tie your hair up, separate a strand and wrap it around the elastic. Now, pull a portion of the elastic at the base to create a gap and slide the hair there. Pull it tighter and enjoy your wrapped around look. This method will last even longer than a bobby pin and you won’t run the risk of the pin falling out or poking you in the head. 4. Use the power of braids If you have layered or short hair, chances are tiny strands of hair keep falling...

How To Get Rid Of The Most Difficult Stains In Your Clothes

Nothing is worse than coming back home from a nice day out and discover that you’ve unwillingly added a new pattern to your beautiful white shirt. Food, make-up, sweat or grass can end up ruining your clothes. Luckily, these tricks will help you get rid of the most annoying stains in your clothes. Crisis averted. Sweat Summer is the sweatiest season of the year, which means you’ll avoid wearing certain tops because you know they’ll end up with pit stains. Don’t worry, because there’s a way to get rid of them. Simply rub a dry bar of soap on the stained area before washing. If it is discolored, soak it in a mixture of white vinegar and hot water for a few minutes and then wash as normal. Foundation Nothing worse than taking off your shirt and staining it with make-up. For foundation, there’s an easy trick. Apply shaving cream to the stain and let it sit for thirty minutes to break down the foundation. Then, just wash as usual and be amazed at the results. Grass Grass is one of the trickiest stains to get rid of, ask any mom. If you enjoy outdoor activities but don’t enjoy the additional green spots in your clothes, try this trick. Apply your favorite pretreater to the stain and let it sit for 15 minutes so it works its way in. Then, scrub the stain working from the center outward. Wash as usual. Blood It happens. Don’t let it ruin your underwear. If the stain is fresh, apply a pretreater and follow up with a solution of water and ammonia. A paste of lemon juice and table salt works too. If the stain is dry, soak it in cold water (never use hot water to remove blood) before treating it. Wash in a cold setting. Grease If you touched your clothes with greasy fingers, don’t panic, there’s actually an easy way to get rid of grease stains. Apply a bit of dish detergent directly on the stain and gently rub it in to treat the area. After that, wash as usual and breathe in relief. Dish detergent is made to break down grease, that’s why this trick is so effective. Dirt Why is nature so dirty? When you come back home from that hike, brush off excess dirt form your clothes and soak them in a mix of warm water, white vinegar and dish detergent. Rinse it all off and dab rubbing alcohol in the parts that are still stained. Rinse it off and wash as you normally would. Ice cream We all scream when our cone falls right on top of...
