Healthy You…Healthy Hair?

Long, luscious locks are at the top of most girl’s wish list.  It’s actually a lot easier than you would imagine. Use these tips to achieve long and fuller looking hair.

Tip 1– Make sure that you’re washing your hair the “right” way. The right way to wash your hair is by massaging your shampoo and conditioner into your scalp. Massage for about 40 seconds, then rinse. Repeat if necessary (for more oily hair make sure to wash twice, condition once).  By massaging the top of your head you improve your circulation and helps prevent dandruff.

Tip 2- Condition right too. Since conditioners can make fine hair look limp, they only should be used on the tips of the hair and not on the scalp or length of the hair.

Tip 3 – Don’t brush while wet. It might sound weird but it’s true. Hair tends to be stretchier and has a tendency to break. Try finger combing and brushing to a minimum to avoid breakage.

Tip 4– “Avoid using heat on your hair. Heat further strips the moisture content from our hair making it dry and frizzy. When over used, it can also burn your hair. Use iron/curl, straighteners only if necessary and remember to use a hair protectant before!”(Source:

Tip 5- Eat right.  It has been shown that a healthy diet leads to  not only a healthier you but a healthier scalp and hair too. There are certain nutrients like vitamins, iron and proteins. that are very important for your hair growth and health. If you aren’t able to get them naturally in your diet, you can consider taking over-the-counter vitamins to supplement your diet.

Tip 6- According to it is important to not put your ponytail in the same spot every time. “There’s always a risk of breakage with repeat styling…to help, vary pony position, and use gentle fabric bands”.
